Who we are

Margaret Lloyd - CEO

Margaret’s coaching and leadership experience over the last 20 years includes working with large central government departments, the NHS, the BBC, the police, the healthcare sector including national health organisations and charities, housing, UK universities, secondary schools and the boards of numerous local and national charities. She is author of Leadership 101(2007). Margaret works with her clients to increase their awareness of what is preventing them achieving their business objectives and helps them create specific and practical steps forward to success.

As well as 1:1 coaching, Margaret coaches and facilitates Boards and top teams and is highly sought-after as a coach trainer, coaching supervisor and speaker on leadership issues. She is on the Bath Consultancy team of coaching supervisors and has a thriving coaching supervision practice.

Margaret has a background in public service, mostly with the Inland Revenue, where she managed a regional office with over 200 staff. She then led a national major programme of quality assurance before becoming Director of Change, reporting directly to the Board of the Inland Revenue. During her last years at the Revenue she also became a qualified executive coach and coached senior directors.

Margaret is a Fellow of the Institute of Quality Assurance and keynote conference speaker, and a Fellow of the Institute of Leadership and Management, as well as a member of the Institute of Directors. An experienced Charity Trustee and Chair, she is also a certified coach at the University of Strathclyde, and an MBTI accredited practitioner (Steps 1 and 2). Margaret is also a qualified coaching supervisor and a member of the Association of Coaching Supervisors.


Walking with Leaders is able to draw on a pool of fully qualified, skilled and experienced associates who share our values and approach. All have experience as senior leaders and are qualified coaches. They are able to bring many years of experience in a wide variety of sectors to our programmes.


Anthony Brister

Brigadier Tony Brister made his career in the Army and ultimately became Director of Educational and Training Services for the Army, in practice responsible for learning and development across the Army. Other senior appointments included: leader of a large specialist training organisation with 6 schools on 5 sites; leader of a team responsible for implementing new, ground-breaking HR procedures across the Army; and head of strategic and corporate planning for the HR and Training functions for the Army. During his Army career Tony has also taken on more traditional leadership roles.

Tony has taken great pride in developing strong teams and helping to unleash the potential of those he has had the privilege to lead. He is now a qualified executive coach and an NLP Practitioner. As a coach Tony enjoys working on personal and professional development and is particularly interested in the challenges of leadership. He strives to enable leaders to achieve results while also making their organisations more exciting, enjoyable and fulfilling places to work.

Carol Bailey

Carol worked as an executive director in human resources in the NHS for 18 years most recently as Interim Director of Human Resources at Barts and the London NHS Trust where she managed the HR function across three sites and was a member of the Executive management team. Previously she was HR Director at Homerton University Hospital NHS Trust where she established a new human resources department, and was an Executive member of the Trust Board and the senior management team that led the hospital to university status and the Investors in People award. Carol's early career included positions as Deputy Director of HR at St Bartholomew's Hospital and Director of Industrial Relations at the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.

Carol is now a qualified executive coach and Consultant in Human Resource management and Organisational Development with special experience of the health sector. She has a particular interest in Board development; leadership and senior staff development; and coaching for executives and senior managers.


Christine Fogg

Christine Fogg

With experience largely grounded in health and social care, Christine initially trained as a nurse and moved into NHS management before becoming Chief Executive of two HIV/AIDS charities and then Breast Cancer Care. Now with an established consultancy practice, Christine has a range of clients across all sectors and is a qualified coach and mentor.

An experienced facilitator, clients have included voluntary and private sector providers as well as the Department of Health and Public Health England. Recent long term projects include developing senior level leadership programmes for the National Skills Academy for Social Care as well as an innovative mentoring scheme for those working in social care and latterly The College of Social Work; commissioning and developing member services and informing the wider member engagement strategy. Her work there included establishing the first mentoring scheme for social workers across the profession.

Christine is also a Principal Consultant at the Cass Business School Centre for Charity Effectiveness and has recently spent time as Lay Member (PPI) on the governing body of a London CCG. Other Board roles include the Royal Free Hospital Charity and a variety of community based organisations including a women’s refuge, a national HIV/AIDS charity and a community project supporting HIV positive African women.

Passionate about supporting the development of confident, self-aware and values based leadership, Christine enjoys working with individuals and teams operating at all levels from those who are new to management to those holding senior positions.


Joanne Rule

Joanne has a research background and has held a number of senior communication and public affairs roles; she has ten years’ experience as a voluntary sector CEO and most recently was chief executive of the patient charity CancerBackup. She has presented widely on patient and public engagement in health care.

Joanne has worked extensively in the not for profit sector with federal organisations as well as charities and public/private collaborations. Joanne is now a performance coach and consultant with expertise in health and social care; communications and patient engagement. Currently she coaches and mentors health care leaders and is a consultant for the National Cancer Action Team working on the involvement of service users in the commissioning of cancer services.

Amanda Cunningham - European Associate

Amanda Cunningham is a qualified executive coach who works with leaders and managers in the private, public and voluntary sectors. Currently based in the Geneva area she works in the UK and Europe, supporting her clients either face-to face or via Skype.

Amanda has over twenty-five years of relevant experience working in various sectors, including the UN, MSF, the construction sector, adult teaching and social services. For the last two years, in parallel with her role as head of learning and development in a UN organization, she has coached and worked alongside leaders and managers both internally and externally.

She compliments her coaching skills with her professional expertise in the fields of human resources, learning and development, organizational development and knowledge management. Her coaching style is values based, supportive, intuitional and eclectic. She both challenges and supports her clients, to examine how they are currently performing and to dare to make changes, both at work and in their wider personal lives. She is passionate about continued personal development and professionalism, both for herself and her clients.
